Our Foundation Year provides an excellent alternative route to Keele, providing a unique opportunity to better prepare for your chosen degree, and with guaranteed entry onto your undergraduate course once you successfully complete your Foundation Year. This extra year of study can improve your academic skills, expand your subject knowledge, give you a better understanding of higher education and, perhaps most importantly of all, build your confidence. On the Keele Foundation Year, you'll study on campus, joining our undergraduate community from the outset, with access to all the facilities and support that you'd get as an undergraduate student at Keele.

Computer Science with Software Engineering
Our BSc in Computer Science with Software Engineering builds essential academic and professional skills, from coding in modern languages such as Python to developing the problem-solving abilities needed to test systems. You’ll gain a solid foundation in modern software engineering practices such as Agile development and Scrum, alongside hands-on experience with key DevOps tools, from version control to continuous integration and build automation. You’ll also explore core principles of system security while developing a strong understanding of legal and ethical challenges and the wider impact of software on society.

Computer Science with Software Engineering at Keele is designed to equip you with the technical expertise to manage the tools, techniques, and processes needed to meet the demands of clients and users. Additionally, the programme develops a strong human‑centred approach to software development, linked closely to the research expertise within the School.

The programme also includes the option to enhance your experience through either a flexible-short or year-long industry placement.
