Engineering is about solving the world’s biggest challenges – from clean energy to sustainable transport and digital innovation. It’s for problem-solvers who want to work across multiple disciplines, designing solutions that are both technically sound and socially responsible. Our BEng Engineering degree brings this vision to life – combining broad-based learning across disciplines with hands-on experience, preparing you for an exciting career in Engineering. Why choose this course - Benefit from industry-informed teaching, networking opportunities, and practical learning - Build key employability skills including data analysis, critical thinking, and evidence-based problem solving - Flexible pathways let you choose an engineering specialism, with the option to exit with a BEng or continue to an MEng - Gain industry experience through a work placement year, preparing you for a range of careers - Study abroad with an international year to broaden your horizons Engineering at Keele brings together mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, and digital disciplines to deliver sustainable, practical solutions. Our engineers are trained to see the big picture while managing the details that make complex systems work. This programme is designed to support your development as a professional engineer. You’ll begin with Engineering Fundamentals, gaining the scientific and technical knowledge to tackle complex problems. Alongside this, Engineering Skills will strengthen your practical ability through labs, workshops, and training in communication and project management. Engineering Simulation and Mathematics will then help you apply advanced analysis and modelling techniques, allowing you to understand and present engineering concepts with precision. You will advance to integrating elements from multiple engineering disciplines, manufacturing principles, and interface control methods to deliver functional, sustainable products and services. In your final year you will integrate core knowledge of subsystems from different domains into a coherent, verifiable whole, applying advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools, interface management, configuration control, and multi-domain verification. You will also develop key skills in leadership, teamwork, communication and research through completion of two major projects: an individual research dissertation and a collaborative industry-led design project. Located in the West Midlands, a region renowned for engineering and manufacturing excellence – the programme draws on a strong industrial base. You’ll benefit from industry-informed teaching, networking opportunities, and access to practical experience through local partnerships and initiatives. Professional practice is embedded throughout, preparing you for the workplace with skills in teamwork, ethics and communication. You’ll also grow personally through Professional Challenge Projects based on real industry scenarios – giving you the chance to apply your learning and stand out in a competitive engineering landscape.
