Ignite your passion for the beauty and practicality of mathematics, whilst building a distinctive expertise to help you stand out from the crowd. From mathematical concepts to specialist topics in group theory, hydrodynamic stability theory, and perturbation methods, you’ll deepen your learning, gaining the advanced practical, technical, research and employability skills to pursue PhD study or gain a competitive edge in the graduate employment market. Why choose this course Accredited by the Institute of Mathematics & its Applications Mathematics ranked Top 10 in England for learning opportunities (NSS 2025, broad-based universities) Top 10 in the UK for Mathematics (Guardian University Guide, 2026) Be career ready by gaining transferrable, professional and employability skills  Gain the master’s level practical, technical and research skills to accelerate your career Mathematics with Integrated Master’s at Keele offers a broad coverage of the key disciplines; pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics. Pure mathematics focuses on mathematical proof, logical argument and abstraction, applied mathematics is concerned with methods and their application to modelling real-world problems, and statistics involves mathematical modelling of uncertainty and the analysis of data. During your first year, you will build a strong foundation in mathematical thinking, exploring sets, functions and proofs, calculus, mathematical methods, algebra and differential equations. To deepen your learning, you will apply your knowledge to analyse real data sets, using the statistical software R. You will also start to develop key employability skills by working in teams on group projects, solving problems and communicating your findings in visual ways. In year two, you will strengthen your knowledge in pure and applied mathematics, probability and statistics, whilst expanding your skillset by learning the programming language Python. Year three allows you to unleash your creativity and undertake a substantial piece of research, applying theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills to a technical, software, research or business problem. Your research project is an excellent opportunity for you to draw together skills in experimental study design, critical interpretation of data, presentation and project management.  In your final year of study, you will develop advanced research skills by undertaking an extensive master’s level research project. Throughout this time, you will work in depth on a problem over an extended period, writing reports - journal style, whilst presenting and communicating your mathematical results to an academic audience by a poster and seminar talk. We have compared the positivity ratings of all participating UK institutions using the NSS 2025 sector data to determine Keele's position relative to other broad-based universities (i.e. excluding specialist institutions and further education colleges). About Keele Keele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University. Founded to meet the needs of a changing world, Keele has always had a pioneering vision to be a different kind of university. We excel in both teaching and research, with some of the most satisfied students in England, and research that is changing lives for the better at a regional, national and global level.
