Creative Writing MA

MA in Creative Writing helps you develop your voice in fiction, poetry, and creative non‑fiction over a range of genres while gaining real insight into how the writing world works. You’ll explore publishing pathways, professional practices and communications, and learn how writers operate across sectors including commercial, heritage, and community arts and events.
On this master’s programme, our workshops in craft, structure, editing, and reflective practice, sit alongside training in research skills essential for postgraduate study and professional writing. You’ll experiment with new genres, develop longer projects, and even co‑organise our annual Literary Festival with students on the MA in Contemporary Literature and Culture. This is a unique opportunity to plan, organise, and deliver a public event. This MA is ideal for aspiring writers and creative professionals interested in careers across the writing industries, arts and heritage, events management, publishing, fundraising and teaching. You’ll be taught by lecturers with a combination of skills and experience, including industry experts, practising creative writers, and academics. The programme supports you in developing your craft while building modern transferable skills that are valued across the cultural sector.
This programme is ideal for students wanting to develop as writers whilst gaining key experience and transferable skills in related sectors.
