Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) Professional (Non-Thesis)

The Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) Professional (Non-Thesis) offered by the Peter Guo-hua Fu School of Architecture in the Faculty of Engineering provides a structured opportunity to explore advanced architectural design integrating building construction, landscape and urban design, professional practice, sustainable design, and the history and theory of architecture. It offers a strategic focus on design methodology, innovative research, and self-directed inquiry, supported by advanced media and modeling technologies and other resources required to carry out architectural research and creative practice. In Canada, the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) is the sole agency authorized by the Regulatory Organization of Architecture in Canada (ROAC) to accredit Canadian professional degree programs in architecture for the purposes of architectural licensure. The Master of Architecture – Professional program is a 60-credit, four-term program carried over two academic years, and based on a design-intensive professional curriculum centered on a sequence of four studio courses. Complementary and elective courses are organized to provide flexibility in individual program design and create opportunities to both explore the discipline and focus on subject areas related to research and design interests. All applicants, regardless of country of origin or educational backgrounds must meet these minimum academic requirements: A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent as recognized by McGill University) in a subject closely related to the one selected for graduate studies. Unless otherwise specified, the Master’s program at McGill requires the completion of a four-year undergraduate degree in a related area at a recognized institution. An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
