Course Summary Develop expertise in robotics, artificial intelligence, automation, and digital systems through practice-based learning. The course is accredited by the Engineering Council, preparing you for a career as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and providing a pathway towards becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng). The curriculum covers foundational topics in mechanical, electrical, and control engineering, as well as computer science. It then advances into specialised subjects including AI, robotics, mechatronic systems, and intelligent systems in an industrial context. - Hands-on Learning and Facilities - Learn to design, operate, and troubleshoot robots using the latest software and systems in AI, automation, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). - Gain practical experience in state-of-the-art laboratories, including a robotics and haptics lab and a dedicated Festo mechatronics facility equipped with modern automation equipment. - Develop future-ready skills through real-world projects, collaborative work with peers, guest lectures from industry professionals, and participation in design engineering competitions. - Benefit from a paid placement option that offers a year-long work placement to build your network, address industry challenges, and enhance your employability. Why Study Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering with Foundation Year at Middlesex University Middlesex University offers a range of partnerships designed to enhance your studies and professional network, including: - Connected Curriculum: Direct access to training by industry professionals supported by Siemens and Festo. -Women’s Engineering Society: Collaboration with an organisation that champions and celebrates women in engineering. -WorldSkills UK: Middlesex is the national competition organiser in Automation, Mechatronics, and Laboratory Technician (Chemistry). -- STEM Learning Network: Opportunities through STEM Ambassadors during your studies. This globally recognised and accredited course is structured to build both the technical and professional skills needed for success in the dynamic field of mechatronics and robotics. What You Will Learn The programme starts by establishing a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, including mechanical engineering, electronics, computer science, and robotics. As you progress, you will specialise in advanced topics such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), equipping you with the skills required for professional practice in modern engineering environments.
