Marketing is the art and science of choosing target markets and getting, keeping, and growing customers through creating, delivering, and communicating superior customer value. The American Marketing Association defines Marketing as "the activity, set of institutions, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large." Market, when used as a noun, is about people. Market, when used as a verb, deals with people, and these people are customers. Therefore, an aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product literally sells itself.
