One-year A level Course

MPW offers the most comprehensive suite of A level options that you will find in any academic institution in the UK. Subjects are offered over three different course durations with no restrictions on subject combination or course length.One-year A level courses for students who want to transfer from other examination systems (for example, as an IBDP to A level conversion course, or from the HKDSE) or who want to improve on previous A level grades in order to apply to the top UK universities.MPW Locations offers over 40 different subjects as one year A levels, taught separately from our two year A levels in small classes of 9 and below. We offer a wide range of support to students undertaking our shorter A level programmes as recognise the focus required to successfully complete courses in this timescale.Each student’s Personal Tutor is responsible for co-ordinating college wide support for progression to Oxbridge, Russell Group, and specialist universities such as medical schools following completion of their A level pathway.One-Year A Level Courses:Students on one-year A level courses at MPW typically have previous experience of sixth-form work, or equivalent, but may well be taking one or more fresh subjects from scratch. We provide comprehensive advice at interview on the fit between various subject options and the rest of a student’s academic profile and university aspirations.One-year course structure:Students may choose from the full list of A level subjects on offer and, as with all MPW courses, may study any subject alongside any other over any course duration. One-year courses are often taken in association with either longer or shorter courses depending on the student profile. The courses are self-contained, covering the whole of the syllabus and are both more intensive as well as being run entirely separately from the second year of our two-year programme. Students should be prepared for a demanding workload in which the pace of syllabus coverage is faster, the homework volumes greater and the supervised exam practice sessions more frequent.

All students attending MPW’s full-time courses are required to have an admissions interview with a senior member of staff in person prior to enrolling.

Students who have not already studied GCSE or the equivalent in the UK or in an International School where the teaching is in English will be required to sit an entrance and/or recognised English language test.
