The typical offer is ABB with grade B in Biology, or BBB with grade B in Biology and grade B in a second science subject. Acceptable second science subjects include Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths, Statistics, Psychology, Geography, Environmental Science or Studies, Applied Science, Geology, and Computer Science. For the International Baccalaureate, applicants must achieve either 32 points overall, including 5 in Biology at Higher Level, or 30 points overall, including 5 in Biology and 5 in a second science subject, both at Higher Level. In recognition of the strong preparation provided for university study, achievement in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) may be included as part of a formal offer. For the BTEC Extended Diploma, the requirement is DDD. Applicants taking the Applied Science (2016) course must complete two Chemistry units and two Biology units from the specified lists, which include Chemistry units such as Biological Molecules and Metabolic Pathways, Applications of Inorganic Chemistry, Applications of Organic Chemistry, Industrial Chemical Reactions, Practical Chemical Analysis, and Forensic Evidence, Collection and Analysis, and Biology units such as Physiology of Human Body Systems, Human Regulation and Reproduction, Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Diseases and Infections, Microbiology and Microbiological Techniques, and Biomedical Science.
