International students who are not nationals of a majority English speaking country applying for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at QMU are required to meet the University's English entry language requirements.
The University requires an IELTS or equivalent English language qualification of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each language skill at undergraduate level. Any test certificate being used to demonstrate English language proficiency must be valid at the start of the degree programme being undertaken. The University, in some cases, also accepts an undergraduate or postgraduate degree taught and assessed in English as proof of English language proficiency.
Additional proof of English language proficiency accepted includes school level qualifications, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Queen Margaret University provides its students with state-of-the-art facilities on-campus, as well as cutting-edge facilities online, to ensure that everyone studying at the University gets the most out of their experience.
QMU provides over 800 rooms for students in its student village, which is situated in landscaped parkland close to the University campus. Offering a fantastic and comfortable way for students to immerse themselves in university life, all rooms in the student village have en-suite bathrooms and students can choose from both standard and premium accommodation options.
Teaching facilities at QMU include traditional lecture theatres and seminar rooms, clinical skills laboratories, biochemistry laboratories, and a podiatry clinic. There are also a range of film and video editing suites, a drama studio, a TV studio, photographic and graphic studios, and a nursing simulation suite. There are over 1,000 collaborative, social, quiet, and silent study spaces across the campus and a library which provides access to an array of physical and electronic learning resources.
The QMU Sport and Fitness Centre houses a fitness suite, a weights room, a sports hall, an outdoor gym, and an all-weather football pitch with floodlights. Showcasing the impressive natural beauty which surrounds QMU's Edinburgh campus, the University's Outdoor Learning Hub Discovering Trail is an accessible route through the stunning woods, meadows and forest which surround the campus.

QMU international scholarships are competitive scholarships valued at GBP 3,000 for new students who are commencing the first year of an undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree. The scholarship is awarded against the cost of tuition fees and is available to students who are self-financing an international tuition fee of GBP 12,500 or above. While applications can be made by students who have already applied to study at the University, international students are not required to hold an offer from QMU before applying for the scholarship. The scholarship is valid for a single year of study.

QMU additionally offers a 10 percent discount on all tuition fees at postgraduate level for alumni of the University who have previously graduated from undergraduate degree programmes based at QMU's Edinburgh campus.
QMU has been recognised nationally as a top university for student career mentorship for many years. Building on this acumen, the University has recently launched an innovative new mentorship project which follows the success of its groundbreaking employer mentoring programme.
QMU's Rotational Leadership Mentoring Programme (ROME) is the first of its kind in the education sector. The dynamic new programme is designed to provide students with opportunities to learn about the various career pathways and industries available to them through pairings with expert mentors. Students are offered the opportunity to concentrate on key professional areas via ROME, with specialist guidance from four mentors as they develop their critical thinking, decision making, team building, analytical prowess, and leadership skillset.
The QMU Musselburgh campus was newly built in 2007, and the University is continuing to invest in the development of its teaching and learning facilities. The Future Spaces project has resulted in GBP 2.1 million being newly invested into the campus learning resource centre and four classroom areas. This enhancement project will see an expansion of the capacity for teaching activity, socialising, and independent and collaborative student learning.
