Year 11 - GCSE/IGCSE (2nd year)

Queen’s provides an education for life; our school motto ‘non scholae sed vitae discimus’ – ‘we educate not just for school but for life’ is as relevant today as it was when the school was founded in 1843. We cater for the needs and talents of individual pupils to help them to fulfil their potential and exceed their expectations. We work closely in partnership with parents and keep regular contact.Academic results are clearly important but are only part of the all-round education we provide. High quality teaching and learning are the core of our academic success. The teaching is innovative, creative and inspires intellectual curiosity. The needs of each individual can be catered for in small classes and every pupil is made to feel special. Pupils feel comfortable talking to staff, and specialist assistance is readily available when required. We really do encourage you to visit us and feel the special atmosphere that prevails. As you walk around the school and look into classrooms you will quickly become aware of how passionate teachers are about their subject. Our varied curriculum promotes independent learning and enables students to study beyond the constraints of exam specifications. The physical education of students is also important; a wide range of opportunities is available including the major team games. Our Sixth Formers enjoy their own dedicated space, in our Sixth Form Centre. Here is where they can complete their prep, socialise, and begin to prepare for the transition to university. This is complemented by our university entry support staff, who help our students through the university application process for UK or overseas universities including a wide variety of Russell Group universities.
