Graduate Certificate Certificate in Social and Emotional Learning and School Climate (Online)

The first of its kind in Connecticut, this online program teaches educational leaders how to work collaboratively to build supportive bonds among children, parents and school staff, create a positive school-wide environment and build strong relationships within the communities they serve. The perspective and expertise gained are valuable for all school-based personnel, including administrators, teachers, guidance counselors and social workers. Drawing on cross-disciplinary research, courses cover the range of knowledge and skills you’ll need to make positive and lasting structural changes in any K-12 institution. You’ll critically examine the foundations of social and emotional learning with a particular focus on culturally responsive practices, school equity and diversity and inclusion. The program culminates in a self-defined capstone project in which you will design, implement and evaluate an SEL-based action plan in a school environment.
