The one-year GCSE gives students the ability to gain the pass grades they need to apply for A-Levels, the International Baccalaureate, BTECs or foundation programmes in just one year. Taunton School is proud to offer more one-year GCSE courses than any other school in the UK As its name suggests, the one-year GCSE allows students to gain their GCSE qualifications within a single year rather than the standard two-to-three years. This course targets students aged 15 and 16 looking to get the pass grades needed for post-16 choices like A-Levels, BTECs, the International Baccalaureate, or the NCUK Pre-Foundation Year.Students usually take 6 or 7 GCSEs in one year, these being study English (first or second language), mathematics, own language (where the GCSE is available) and up to three additional subjects during the school day.Students can also opt in to additional lessons after school. These require additional commitment and private study. Taunton School International (TSI) has places for up to 70 students on the one-year GCSE programme. With small class sizes (averaging 8 students per class), a roster of specialist teachers and individual tutor support our students have the very best opportunity to achieve their full potential.TSI is situated within the beautiful Taunton School 56-acre campus, enabling our students to make full use of the outstanding facilities, including a theatre, Chapel, tennis courts, sports halls, football pitches, swimming pools, 24-hour health centre, library and much more.
