Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Science (General Entry) - Level 8

Science is the process of understanding the world around us and underpins many of the major industrial sectors and employers in Ireland, for example, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Healthcare, Agri-Food and the Green Economy. A recent review of employment opportunities in Ireland by Forfás identified that Science will be at the core of the Future Skills Needs and economic recovery in Ireland.
This General Science course is ideal if you are not yet sure which Science discipline you wish to pursue and you are looking for a broad education in first year that will allow the maximum possible choice in future years.

Leaving Certificate Requirements

Minimum Number of Subjects: 6, Higher : 2 H5's

Minimum Grade in Maths: O3/H7, English OR Irish : O6/H7

Other Grade Requirements - At least H4 in one of Physics, Chemistry, Physics and Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Engineering, Technology or Applied Mathematics.

Essential Major Award - Laboratory Techniques (CASLT/5M3807), Food Science (CASFX/5M5267)

Essential Component Award - Minimum of 5 distinctions. Must include Distinction in Mathematics (5N1833) or O3/H7 LCE Maths.
