The Bachelor of Music in Music EducationJazz is conferred upon a student by recommendation of the faculty and upon the satisfactory completion of a minimum of 158-161 credits (depending on concentration). This major requires a concentration; the available concentrations are Instrumental (options include Bassoon, Brass, Cello, Clarinet, Classical Guitar, Double Bass, Euphonium, Flute, French Horn, Harp, Harpsichord, Historical Keyboard Instruments, Oboe, Percussion, Saxophone, String, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Viola, Violin, and Woodwind), Piano with a BandOrchestra Emphasis, Piano with a ChoralGeneral Emphasis, and Voice. Develop the skills to help cultivate a love of music with the Bachelor of Music (BM) in Music Education Jazz in Temple's Boyer College of Music and Dance. You’ll prepare for a career in music education with an emphasis on jazz through a comprehensive curriculum of applied music, internships and externships, and jazz studies. In this interdisciplinary, five-year undergraduate curriculum, you’ll study music history and theory. Coursework emphasizes hands-on learning, including music arrangements, editing, orchestration, performance and recording. The Music EducationJazz BM program’s education courses delve into teaching instrumentation, rehearsal techniques, listening and articulation, rhythm development and more.

Your application must include all official and original academic records from any secondary school you have ever attended.If you are attending a secondary school curriculum that is four years, Temple University reviews grades nine through 11 as well as your current progress in 12th grade (term/quarter/semester/predicted) or your final transcript if you completed secondary school. If you are attending a secondary school curriculum that is only three years, we strongly recommend you submit the final year of your primary school as well.
