Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Major in Education (Secondary Education; Teacher Certification with Double Major in another B.A. teacher certification degree program)

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas State University offers undergraduate degrees that focus on the preparation and development of teachers and teacher leaders. All undergraduate programs in the department lead to initial teaching certification and have robust field experiences in local schools prior to clinical practice (student teaching). The Education Double Major is only intended for students seeking teacher certification in select high school subject areas. Students wanting to teach high school should consult with an Academic Advisor in the college of their major to determine whether declaring this double major in Education or a minor in Secondary Education is the appropriate avenue for fitting the required education coursework into their content-specific degree program.
