Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine

Start your medical career at one of the top medical schools in the world. Through our six-year medical program, you’ll graduate with two degrees - the Bachelor of Medical Studies (BMed) and the Doctor of Medicine (MD). This degree will prepare you for professional practice and empower you to lead the future of health. The program is renowned for its dynamic blend of hands-on clinical experience and research-focused learning. From your first year, you’ll be applying course content to real-world scenarios and developing your clinical skills in some of Australia’s largest metropolitan and rural hospitals. Your fourth year is dedicated to medical research, where you’ll gain the skills and knowledge to become a change leader in health.

The majority of students are admitted into Medicine following a selection process based on academic merit, performance in the UMAT and performance at an interview. Only students selected for entry into Medicine can enrol in the BMed program.

A limited number of students in the BMedSci program at UNSW may apply for entry into the Medicine program. Students offered a provisional place at the end of second year will undertake a plan of study specific to entry to UNSW Medicine including a number of bridging courses in conjunction with their Honours research project. After entry into Medicine, the students will complete the Phase 2 Integrated Clinical Studies courses and all Phase 3 courses.

English Language requirements:

IELTS: 7.0 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL IBT (Internet Based): 94 overall (min. 25 in writing, 23 in reading, listening and speaking); Pearson (PTE - Academic): 65 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); C1 Advanced Cambridge: 185 overall (min. 169 in each subtest); C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 185 overall (min. 180 in each subtest); UNSW Global University English Entry Course (UEEC): B, Writing C.
