Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours)

The Biomedical Science Honours program is a one year program to undertake research project within a field of Biomedical Science. The program will provide you with an opportunity to develop and manage your own scientific project in collaboration with your academic supervisor. Students will develop skills in research planning, inductive reasoning, data analysis, literature searching, data collection storage and retrieval, written and oral communication skills that culminates with a written thesis. The program generates industry ready graduates for future employment within Biomedical research or elsewhere. Biomedical science plays a vital role in advancing medical knowledge, understanding diseases, and developing new treatments. By studying biomedical science, you can actively contribute to healthcare and make a positive impact on people's lives. Biomedical science is a constantly evolving field with new discoveries and advancements being made regularly. Pursuing a biomedical science degree allows you to stay at the forefront of scientific progress and engage in lifelong learning. For students aiming to continue postgraduate study in allied health or medicine, this program will provide you with the necessary foundation of skills and knowledge.

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) applicants must also meet the following specific requirements.

Student is to be invited into the Program;

A student must normally achieve above an average of 65% within a Bachelor degree in a related Health Science Discipline; and

No student will be accepted into the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) Award unless the Head of Discipline has determined that the School has the staff expertise and facilities capable of supporting the applicant.

Students admitted from other recognised tertiary institutions will be required to undertake one Core Curriculum course in their Honours year in addition to the required program work and research thesis.
