University Academy 92 (UA92) is a game-changing higher education institution in Manchester, UK, co-founded by Manchester United legends, the Class of 92, and Lancaster University.
Their deliberately different approach sets students up for success with a structured timetable, courses co-developed with industry, and a strong focus on personal development - giving students the skills, experience, and confidence to unlock their greatness.
Organisations such as Manchester United, Microsoft and KPMG have not only co-developed the curriculum, but are an integral part of the learning experience, providing students with regular guest lectures, industry insight days and masterclasses.
UA92 offers undergraduate programmes in the worlds of business, sport, media and digital. The programmes are delivered across two campuses in Manchester. Each location has been designed to support student success and students have access to the newest technology most relevant for their course and future career.
Students will benefit from learning in one of the UK's most vibrant cities, with a wealth of amazing facilities and resources all within easy reach of both campus locations, including world-class sport, dining, shopping and more.
There are many course options available to students at UA92.
Students will learn about the production, consumption and effects of contemporary media and master current digital technologies to create engaging media content.
Specialising in either Sports Journalism or Sports Media and Communications, students will have access to UA92's professional media studio and podcast room, allowing students to create, practice and present using real-life equipment.
Students interested in studying sport benefit from UA92's strong links with industry partners including Manchester United, Salford City FC and Lancashire Cricket Club.
Degrees include health, exercise and sport, sports and exercise science, sports coaching and physical education, giving students the option to dive into the world of physiology, anatomy and sports psychology or focus on practical coaching techniques.
Digital graduates are in high demand, and UA92's courses provide a gateway into many careers.
Co-developed with Microsoft and other industry partners, digital degrees in computer science and cyber security provide an emphasis on front and back-end development, computer programming and information systems.
Taught in the centrally located business school, with input from world-leading organisations like KPMG, students benefit from unique workplace experiences such as insight days, masterclasses and guest lectures.
Degrees offered include accounting and business management, business management, accounting and finance, digital marketing, sport management and the specialised course business of football – giving students the chance to turn a passion for football into a real-life career.
UA92's facilities were designed for students, and so there are no large cold lecture theatres or maze-like libraries. Instead, students study in a modern professional working environment with small classrooms to echo the small class sizes (30 max), along breakout spaces for collaboration and technology to support learning and prepare future careers.
This is where the institution's story began, back in 2019. The UA92 Campus is in the centre of Old Trafford, the sporting heart of Manchester. Inside there's a fully equipped sports performance centre, media studio and digital academy, with industry standard equipment for all disciplines. The closest tram stop is a one-minute walk, which gets students into the core of Manchester city-centre in under 10 minutes.
The game-changing UA92 Business School, in the city-centre of Manchester, opened in September 2023. As a central hub for enterprise, it is transforming the way UA92 delivers business and accounting courses. The campus is in the heart of Manchester's thriving business district, less than one minute from Salford Central train station, and well connected to the rest of Manchester and beyond.
UA92 offers Academy Apartments, which are stylish, modern studio or one-bed apartments. Fully furnished and with Wi-Fi and bills included, the facilities offer a safe and clean living environment while students live in Manchester.
UA92 is located in Manchester, a city like no other. Bold, welcoming and buzzing with life: many students fall in love with it and never leave. With hubs for sports, music and culture, students will often finish their degree with unforgettable experiences both in and out of the classroom.
Whether it's watching world-class football, discovering the city's legendary music scene, or exploring its thriving food and cultural festivals, Manchester offers something for everyone.
There's no denying that Manchester is rooted in sporting greatness. It's home to two Premier League football teams and many world-class sporting venues – the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground is located next door to the Old Trafford campus. For students who support City or United, love cricket or rugby, want to play or cheer on their team, Manchester is a city with sport at the very heart.
Students will be spoilt for choice when it comes to arts and culture, with a host of art galleries and museums as well as the iconic Central Library, and John Rylands library (two minutes from the Business School). Students will be inspired by artists, enjoy artefacts from around the globe and understand the rich history of a city that grew out of industrial innovation.
Students will have access to all the culinary delights imaginable nearby, with amazing restaurants and smaller street food vendors serving food from all over the world, many suited to students on a budget.
For a special occasion Spinningfields, next to the Business School, has top international restaurants like Sexy Fish and The Ivy.
Manchester is renowned for its style and shopping. Students can shop in the city centre or the impressive Trafford Centre, the UK's second largest indoor centre, just a 15-minute drive from the Old Trafford campus. There's also the Northern Quarter, which has a range of unique boutique stores along with lots of new bars and coffee shops.
UA92 offers entry at three different levels, depending on a student's academic and language background:
Entry requirements for each level vary by country and educational system, typically ranging from specific grade averages or examination scores to completion of certain levels of education. More details are available on UA92's website.
There are also English language requirements to consider. For the foundation programmes, students must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 with no unit below 5.5. The overall score requirement increases to 6.0 for Integrated Year One programmes, and 6.5 for Direct Year One programmes.
There are a variety of scholarship options available to students in 2025. These are highly competitive and provide significant discounts on tuition fees for the first year.
UA92 has announced the Women in Leadership scholarship, a celebration of equal rights and diversity, will be returning for 2025. The two students that are successful in receiving this scholarship will receive it a 50 percent discount on their first year's tuition fee.
For highly ambitious students, this scholarship looks to reward students that are pushing the boundaries and bringing an extra edge to UA92. Again, the two students that are successful after essay submission will receive a 50 percent discount on their first year's tuition fee.
This scholarship is given to students who are looking to start their educational journey at UA92 on the International Foundation Year. Worth GBP 1,000, this discount is limited and issued on a first come, first served basis.
UA92 puts character and personal development at the core of each student's learning experience, with a strong emphasis on building skills that employers want.
This is delivered through the 92 Programme, embedded into every block of study with character and personal development focus days. During these focus days, students will complete activities designed to get them set for future success. The areas of focus are professionalism, strengths, wellness and personal development.
A one module-at-a-time approach helps to keep students focused and gain a deeper understanding of each subject matter. Students learn it, complete an assessment and then have a short break before moving on to their next module.
UA92 keeps timetabling simple – students will study in the morning from 9am-1pm, or the afternoon from 2pm-6pm. As students' timetables will remain mostly fixed throughout each academic year, they'll have time to commit to other things - whether that's playing sport, volunteering or gaining valuable work experience before graduating.
There are multiple intakes to allow students to start their studies when they are ready. Students can begin in September, November, January, February, April or June. Accelerated programmes begin in September, January and April only.
The unique model at UA92 allows students to complete their undergraduate degree in as little as two years. Students will study six blocks each year (rather than four), with a shorter summer break. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to finish their degree and get into employment sooner.
