Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering

The department offers programs leading to the Master of Science and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees with a major in electrical and computer engineering. These programs prepare students for careers in research and development in such areas as biomedical engineering, circuit design, VLSI, & CAD, communication systems, computer networks, distributed computing, & computer architecture, computer vision & robotic systems, control systems, digital signal & image processing, electromagnetics, microwave, & antennas, microelectronic devices & processing, microelectronic packaging & interconnects, optics, remote sensing & telemetering, and software, simulation & information systems. The department also offers an Online Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering degree.

The minimum admission requirements for the M.S. program are as follows:

Bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by the UA. Students who do not have a degree equivalent to the UA Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering may be admitted into the graduate ECE program but may be required to complete some undergraduate deficiency courses prior to enrolling in graduate courses. This policy also applies to students in the M.S. non-thesis option.

Acceptable English Proficiency credentials:

• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score of 79 iBT (or 60 on the revised PBT with no section score lower than 15). Individual MyBest scores must also be dated within 2 years of the enrollment term to be considered valid.
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - minimum composite score of 7, with no subject area below a 6
• Pearson PTE Academic - minimum score of 60
• Graduate English Language Endorsement from the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL)
• CEPT Full Academic test - offered by our Center for English as a Second Language (CESL), minimum Total score of 110.

Fall: Applications may be submitted at any time. Please allow at least six weeks of processing time after all required documents have been submitted before an admission decision is made. Most applications for Fall admission are received in December, admission decisions usually begin near the end of January, and offers of financial support usually begin near the end of February. Therefore, the recommended deadline for receipt of the application is as follows: Recommended Deadline for Applicants Seeking Financial Support: Spring-July 15 and Fall-December 15.
