BA (Hons) History and Philosophy

Applicants are expected to have A Level qualifications with AAB grades, with History, Medieval History, or Ancient History preferred, though those who demonstrate interest and aptitude in history will also be considered; General Studies is not accepted. Acceptable subjects include Ancient History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Business Studies, Classical Civilisation, Drama and Theatre Studies, Economics, English Language, English Language and Literature, English Literature, Environmental Studies, Geography, Government and Politics, History, History of Art, Law, Medieval History, Modern or Classical Languages, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sociology. Applicants not studying A Level History must have GCSE History at grade 7 and at least one humanities subject at A Level or equivalent. For the IB Diploma, applicants require 6,6,5 in Higher Level subjects with 32 points overall. BTEC qualifications accepted include the Extended Diploma with DDM plus a B at A Level in the required subjects, the Diploma with DD plus a B at A Level, and the Subsidiary Diploma with D plus AB at A Level in the relevant subjects. The number of A Levels required is three. Applicants studying subjects outside the listed ones are advised to contact the admissions team to discuss their application.
