BA (Hons) History and Politics

Applicants are normally required to have A Levels at AAB (General Studies not accepted), with A Level History, Medieval History or Ancient History preferred, though applications are welcomed from those able to demonstrate a strong interest and aptitude for the study of history and politics. Acceptable A Level subjects include Ancient History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Business Studies, Classical Civilisation, Drama and Theatre Studies, Economics, English Language, English Language and Literature, English Literature, Environmental Studies, Geography, Government and Politics, History, History of Art, Law, Medieval History, Modern or Classical Languages, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sociology; applicants not offering one of these subjects should contact the admissions team to discuss their application. Applicants not taking A Level History must hold GCSE History at grade 7 and at least one humanities subject at A Level or equivalent. The International Baccalaureate requirement is 6,6,5 at Higher Level with a minimum of 32 points overall. BTEC qualifications are accepted as follows: BTEC Extended Diploma at DDM plus a B at A Level in a required subject; BTEC Diploma at DD plus a B at A Level in a required subject; and BTEC Subsidiary Diploma at D plus AB at A Level, including the required subject(s).
