BA (Hons) Mathematics and Music

Applicants are expected to achieve AAB at A level, including grade A in Music and grade A in Mathematics. Where Music is not taken at A level, ABRSM Grade 6 Theory or Grade 8 Performance (or equivalent Trinity or LCM qualifications) will be accepted in addition to three A levels at AAB. Music Technology A level or Music BTEC qualifications are not accepted as a substitute for A level Music, although they may be considered as part of a wider offer. Applicants who do not meet the standard requirements may be invited to an interview or audition, and General Studies is not accepted. For the International Baccalaureate, applicants must achieve a minimum of 32 points overall with 6,6,5 at Higher Level including 6 in Mathematics (or Further Mathematics) and 6 in Music, with equivalent alternatives accepted where HL Music is not taken. BTEC qualifications are considered in combination with A levels, with the BTEC Extended Diploma requiring DDM plus AA at A level in Music and Mathematics, the BTEC Diploma requiring DD plus AA at A level in Music and Mathematics, and the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma requiring D plus AA at A level in Music and Mathematics, with equivalent alternatives such as ABRSM accepted where A level Music is not taken.
