Applicants are typically required to achieve AAB at A level, including grade A in Biology, Human Biology or PE, with three A levels overall. For the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, the requirement is 6,6,5 at Higher Level with a minimum of 32 points overall, including Biology, Human Biology or PE at Higher Level. A total of seven GCSEs is expected, including English Language and Mathematics at grade 6/B or higher, and Biology and Chemistry or dual award Science at grade 6/B or higher, with the remainder at grade 5/C or above. General Studies, Critical Thinking, Citizenship Studies, Applied Science, Communication and Culture, Science in Society, World Development, and similar subjects are not accepted. BTEC qualifications are considered: the BTEC Extended Diploma is accepted in Sport & Exercise Science, Health Science, Health & Social Care, and Applied Science with D*D*D* including distinctions in all units; Extended Diplomas in other subjects require an additional A level in Biology or PE at grade A. The BTEC Diploma is accepted in relevant subjects with grades D*D* plus grade A in Biology or PE, while the Subsidiary Diploma is accepted when combined with two A levels including Biology or PE, requiring D* plus AB. All BTEC applicants are advised to contact the university before applying. Access to Higher Education Diplomas in Science, Health Science or Physiotherapy are accepted with a minimum of 60 credits overall, including 45 at Level 3 all at Distinction, of which 36 must be in Science (including 18 in Biology), alongside English and Mathematics at GCSE grade 6/B or above. Graduate entry requires a relevant degree at 2:1 with a minimum of BBB at A level, or an unrelated degree at 2:1 with BBB including Biology at A level. Applicants taking the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) who meet the offer criteria will receive the standard offer plus an alternative, one grade lower with grade A in the EPQ. Deferred entry is generally accepted, and applicants may apply in advance for this option.
