MSc Engineering Mathematics

Engineering mathematics is the art of applying mathematical and engineering principles to complex, real-world problems across areas as wide-ranging as artificial intelligence, ecology, medicine, physics, social media and sustainability. For this MSc, you will be fully embedded within an engineering faculty, benefitting from unrivalled access to a broad range of industrial collaborations and pioneering research. Spanning engineering, mathematics and computer science, this programme would suit graduates from any related discipline who would like to become versatile at solving multidisciplinary challenges. Graduates will be well placed to meet the increasing demand from the industrial, government and service sectors for maths-savvy graduates who can work across traditional boundaries and drive high-tech innovation. From designing Formula One cars to renewable energy technologies, or exploring the field of biomedicine, our engineering graduates go on to a wide range of exciting careers.

You will typically need an upper second-class honours degree (or international equivalent) in any Engineering discipline, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics. Applicants who have studied Chemistry will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately this programme is not suitable for applicants who have studied Biology or any degree outside of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. If you are currently completing a degree, we understand that your final grade may be higher than the interim grades or module/unit grades you have achieved during your studies to date.We will consider your application if your interim grades are currently slightly lower than the programme's entry requirements and may make you an aspirational offer. This offer would be at the standard level, so you would need to achieve the standard entry requirements by the end of your degree. Specific module requirements would still apply. We will also consider your application if your final overall achieved grade is slightly lower than the programme's entry requirement. If your achieved grade is lower than our entry requirements, your application may be more likely to receive an offer if you have additional relevant work experience or qualifications.
