Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware invites applications from candidates to pursue PhD studies in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.

The Department's research includes some of the most recent trends, covering a variety of areas, including analysis, computational mathematics, discrete mathematics, mathematics of data science, numerical analysis and PDE's, probability theory and its applications, and quantum information science.

Applications must include an up-to-date CV, a personal statement, academic transcripts, three reference letters and, for international applicants, a valid TOEFL score of at least 600 points (or equivalent). GRE scores are optional.

​Ph.D.Admission to the Ph.D. programs in Applied Mathematics and Mathematics is open to students who have completed the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree in mathematics or related fields and who have sound preparation in linear algebra and advanced calculus. On a 4.0 system, applicants should have a GPA of at least 2.5 and an average of at least 3.0 in mathematics and related areas. Applicants who have completed an advanced degree must have done so with a GPA of at least 3.0.
