Graduate Certificate in School Counseling

Our School Counseling Certificate is designed for professionals like you who want to meet the additional requirements for certification while gaining specialized expertise in supporting P-12 students.
Offered through DU’s CACREP-accredited School Counseling MA program, this certificate provides access to an evidence-based curriculum focused on empowering young learners. You’ll develop culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate techniques that you can apply immediately in a school setting.
Earning this certificate not only strengthens your ability to support diverse student populations but also opens new career pathways, equipping you to make a lasting impact in educational communities.

Applicants for both graduate certificates within the School Counseling program are evaluated based on the following criteria:

1. Earned a master’s degree that meets one of the following requirements.
   1. Master’s degree from a CACREP-accredited program.
   2. Master’s degree from a CACREP-equivalent program, as determined through the Center for Credentialing & Education's (CCE) Colorado LPC Educational Equivalency Application (found here). The official results of your review must be included in the application to be considered for admission.
2. Earned a master’s degree from a CACREP-accredited (or equivalent) program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. A cumulative GPA of 3.5 is recommended.

All applicants must submit a resume or curriculum vitae, along with official transcripts from all institutions they have attended. Applicants with a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 must also submit additional supplemental materials for admission review.
