Politics and Law with Industrial Placement - BSc (Hons)

The BSc Politics and Law with Industrial Placement will enable you to study politics and law in equal measure to gain a thorough understanding of the manifold ways in which political processes and legal systems interact. The legal skills that you acquire alongside the study of politics will ensure you have skills and competencies that are highly valued by employers. As well as tackling case studies, you will discuss current issues in political life and debate key theories developing your presentation, team working, communication and problem-solving skills. You will thrive in our strong, close-knit community with an unrivalled commitment to excellence in teaching and a curriculum designed to support your learning at every stage. You will 'learn by doing' from your first week at university as you tackle real world problems using both your subjects, including immersive learning events. We help prepare you for your future career by embedding transferrable skills across the programme, co-creating your learning experience with law firms, parliament, local government, NGOs, and non-profit organisations. Please note that this programme does not cover all the Foundations of Legal Knowledge. Spending up to a year carrying out a graduate-level work placement as part of your degree programme is an invaluable opportunity. It unlocks a world of experience that allows you to develop essential employability and transferrable skills for your future career. You will take full responsibility for finding and organising your placement in a business setting of your choosing (either in the UK or abroad), with preparation, support and approval from the University. This is a great way to demonstrate to employers your adaptability, commercial awareness, independence and resourcefulness.
