Computer Games Design (with placement)

Why Computer Games Design Turn your passion into playable worlds. Our Computer Games Design degree prepares you for a career creating games for console, desktop and mobile, whether you’re interested in 3D modelling, level design, UX, animation or technical design. You’ll develop creative and technical skills using industry-standard tools such as Unreal Engine, Unity and Adobe Creative Cloud. Through rapid prototyping, agile workflows and iterative playtesting, you’ll take ideas from concept to fully playable games in collaborative teams. Work alongside programmers and artists on projects from indie titles to large-scale game experiences, gaining hands-on experience. You’ll study in cutting-edge facilities featuring professional equipment including VR headsets, PlayStation VR, HoloLens, motion capture systems, photogrammetry kits, and Sony and Nintendo development kits. Teaching combines lectures, workshops and seminars designed to build your confidence, collaboration skills and industry readiness. In your second year, the Professional Awareness module strengthens your CV, portfolio and interview skills, with opportunities for contractor-style work. You may also take a placement year with industry partners such as Unity, Dyson, Meta, Rebellion, Sumo Digital and Flix Interactive. Graduates progress into roles such as game designers, 3D artists, UI designers, technical artists and VFX specialists. Why a placement year Your fourth year would be a placement year - an opportunity to get ahead of the competition with a professional placement in industry.
