Master of Science in Environmental Sciences - Earth and Atmospheric Sciences

The MSc and PhD in Environmental Sciences are offered through our School of Environmental Sciences SES in three areas of focus: Earth and Atmospheric Science, Ecosystem Science and Biodiversity, and Plant and Environmental Health. Students in both programs develop a high level of knowledge in the field of environmental science, as well as expertise in specific aspects relating to their researchGraduate with training in laboratory and field techniques, and an excellent foundation in writing and oral communication.MSc graduates will possess a strong foundation on which they can be highly successful in science-related positions in government, industry, and consulting, or carry out high quality research at the PhD level.Doctoral students will be prepared to provide leadership as scholars in academic institutions, as research managers and directors in industry, and in leadership research positions in government sector and in other social institutions.Examples include:Technician, Research associate scientist, Biologist, Ecologist, Environmental consultant, Regulator

Minimum Degree: Normally, the minimum requirement for admission to a master's program is successful completion of an undergraduate degree/ baccalaureate, in an honours program or the equivalent, from a recognized university. Minimum Admisson Average: 70% (B-) average is required in the last two years of full-time equivalent study. Calculating Admission Average: North American Degrees; A four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution. Typically, the last 20 one-semester courses consist of 10 Credits/60 Units/60 Hours For in-progress degrees, the total number of credits with grades that are used may be lower. E.g. 8 Credits/48 Units/48 Hours may have grades while 2 Credits/12 Units/12 Hours will be in progress. International Degrees; Country-specific degree equivalent to Guelph's four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution. Typically, the last 4 full-time semesters (or 6 full-time semesters for full-year education systems) equivalent credits.
