Several international qualifications are accepted for undergraduate admissions. Applicants should check the country specific requirements page on the university's website for the most relevant information.
Applicants for a taught master's degree will usually be required to hold the equivalent of a UK bachelor's degree. Similarly, for MPhil and PhD courses, international applicants need to hold a master's qualification or the equivalent of a high-grade bachelor's degree, alongside some research experience and thesis writing.
International applicants also need to demonstrate English-language proficiency. A minimum of CEFR B2 in each component (speaking, writing, listening and reading) is required and is also necessary to secure a study visa for entry into the UK.
For students who do not meet these minimum requirements, there is an English Language Centre on campus, which runs pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses to improve skills to gain a university place. Some of the shorter course (12-week, 10-week and 6-week options) can be studied online or on campus.
International applicants who have different education systems from the UK may require additional preparation before commencing a degree at the University of Liverpool. Applicants can study with Kaplan's University of Liverpool International College (UoLIC) via several pathway programmes to gain guaranteed progression onto their chosen University of Liverpool degree course.

The University of Liverpool offers a wide range of financial support options to help international students manage the cost of studying in the UK. These include generous tuition fee discounts and various scholarships and bursaries tailored to undergraduate, master's, and postgraduate research students. These scholarships are based on academic merit, personal achievement, and other eligibility criteria. In addition to internal awards, students may also benefit from external funding opportunities. A dedicated scholarship finder tool is available to help applicants identify suitable options, and advisors are on hand to guide students through the process.
Award-winning accommodation provides a community where students make friends in a safe, supported environment. There's a great choice of accommodation with over 4,400 student rooms across the Greenbank Student Village and city campus residences. Room costs include utility bills, insurance, broadband and use of communal areas.
The Guild of Students building in the heart of campus is where everything takes place. The Guild offers a huge range of activities, there's over 200 societies to join and a volunteering platform that offers fun, rewarding opportunities to help students develop personally and professionally. They can also access the university's ‘Give it a Go' programme packed with affordable trips and activities.
The Sport and Fitness Centre includes a 25-metre swimming pool, sports halls, squash courts, studios, bouldering wall, gym and weight training area. Sport Liverpool has 53 competitive sports clubs, which represent Liverpool in the British Universities and Colleges Sport leagues (BUCS), there's also internal campus sport leagues, along with excellent indoor and outdoor facilities.
The university's two libraries open 24/7 (term time), provide access to books, computers, study spaces and helpful, friendly staff. Library collections include 2 million print books and 900,000 eBooks. ‘KnowHow' is a library service to help students develop academic skills and excel in their studies. Online and face to- face workshops and resources help with essay planning and preparing for exams.
IT Services include a 24/7 IT Service Desk, over 2,000 computers and free high-speed Wi-Fi are available to use on campus. Also, free software is available to be installed on students' own computers. Free mobile apps let learners access their timetables and coursework wherever they are.
The University of Liverpool Global Advancement Scholarships provide up to GBP 10 million worth of scholarships for international undergraduate and postgraduate master's students.

The university now offers January start dates for a number of master's programmes in health sciences, business and management, computer science and engineering, so if applicants miss the application deadline for September 2025, they can apply for selected programmes starting in January 2026.
