Master of Science in Earth Sciences

The Department of Earth Sciences offers one certificate and three graduate program options Master of Science in Earth Sciences Requires completion of a thesis and 32 credit hours. Concentrations are offered in Archaeology Geography Geology and Interdisciplinary Studies. Welcome to the Department of Earth Sciences. We were founded in 2002 as part of the College of Arts and Sciences on the main campus of the University of Memphis. Our 14 full time faculty represent the diverse disciplines of Archaeology Geography and Geology. Here excellence is personal through a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to Earth Science studies and research. Faculty and students are free to pursue diverse and innovative education and research studies that might be difficult in more traditional academic departments. Earth Sciences maintains close ties to several centers and institutes on campus the Center for Earthquake Research and Information CERI the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research CAESER Chucalissa Museum and the Confucius Institute CIUM . Our Archaeology faculty have common interests with other Archaeology related programs at the University of Memphis.

Baccalaureate Degree The applicant must provide an unofficial transcript showing that a U.S. bachelors degree or its equivalent was awarded by an accredited college or university or is expected to be awarded within one term. If accepted to the University of Memphis the student must provide an official transcript by the end of their first semester. In addition transcripts from any other college or university attended may be requested. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. 2.75 4.0 cumulative GPA. Departments may set higher standards.
