Advertising is everywhere, from the social content we engage with daily to the campaigns that shape how we think about brands, products and causes. If you're interested in creativity, digital culture, consumer behaviour and the power of communication, this course will help you develop practical skills and industry experience.
At the University of Northampton, you'll create advertising and digital marketing campaigns across digital platforms and traditional media. You'll explore branding, social media, consumer insight, digital marketing, marketing communications and creative strategy, gaining a broad understanding of how organisations connect with audiences in today's media landscape.
Experience is central to the course. You'll work on live briefs and real projects, developing creative concepts, responding to client requirements and presenting campaign ideas. This hands on approach helps you apply theory to professional practice and build confidence in a workplace context.
You'll learn how marketers use customer insight, research, data and emerging technologies, including AI tools, to inform decisions and evaluate campaign performance. Alongside analytical skills, you'll develop creative thinking and problem-solving abilities that are highly valued by employers.
A key feature of the course is its strong industry focus. You'll engage with advertising and digital media professionals, benefit from guest speakers and tackle real world challenges. The course culminates in a pitch to industry clients, providing valuable experience of presenting and defending your ideas in a professional environment.
The course is accredited by the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI), enabling you to graduate with an Associate Level DMI Certification alongside your degree through your course assessments.
Throughout your studies, you'll build skills in campaign planning, audience insight, branding, research, communication, teamwork and professional presentation. Opportunities for work experience and an optional placement year can further enhance your employability.
