Computer Science - MSci (Hons)

At Nottingham, we teach computer science from the ground up, ensuring you cover everything you need to know about the core foundations of the field. From day one, you’ll get involved in practical problem-solving experiences, getting to grips with how computers work. In your final year, you’ll step up to master’s-level modules. You can conduct a substantial research project, where you can make a real contribution to the field and dive deeper into a topic that excites you. This is your chance to specialise, innovate and graduate with advanced skills that set you apart. You’ll explore topics like programming languages, user interfaces, security, computer ethics and artificial intelligence. Our course offers a wide range of specialist modules that are informed by and linked to our cutting-edge research – including mixed reality, cyber physical systems, assistive robots and the Internet of Things. As you progress on the course, you’ll be able to specialise and tailor your degree to your interests and career ambitions. Engaging in research means contributing to the future of computer science and pushing the boundaries of knowledge. You’ll have the chance to work on innovative projects that can have real-world applications, guided by our world-leading experts. You might recognise some of them from the popular Computerphile YouTube channel. And, as a BCS accredited degree, you can be assured of a top-quality education that is globally recognised. You’ll gain substantial hands-on experience through projects, including a group project in your second year, where you’ll bid for work with industry sponsors or our innovative research groups. This project gives you the chance to tackle genuine challenges and build valuable connections. Hear about the project from our students. Our school is expanding and we have highly enthusiastic, skilled and helpful staff who are dedicated to supporting you throughout your studies. You’ll also have plenty of industry and networking opportunities. Our graduates have gone on to work for top companies like IBM, Amazon, J.P. Morgan and Capital One. Within our school, you’ll also have the flexibility to transfer to a related programme any time before the middle of your second year – such as our Computer Science including International Year MSci or our Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence MSci. Course highlights: Our software engineering group project gives you practical experience of working with an industry sponsor or university research team. https:www.nottingham.ac.ukstudywithusugstudyarticlesexplore-more-articlesscienceBoost-your-computer-science-degree.html Learn from world-leading experts in our growing school.
