International Hospitality and Tourism Management (with Professional Experience) MSc

The Professional Route of the MSc in International Hospitality and Tourism Management (UK) is designed for UK, EU and international students who wish to gain substantial industry experience alongside their academic studies. This route combines advanced business and management education with a professional placement, enabling you to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world hospitality and tourism environments. The professional placement provides work-based learning experience, helping you develop practical skills, professional confidence and industry insight that give you a competitive advantage in the global graduate job market. Students are supported throughout the placement process by our dedicated placements team, who offer guidance on sourcing opportunities, preparing applications and making the most of your professional experience. Placement opportunities are available with a range of hospitality, tourism and service-sector organisations, subject to availability and eligibility. With a strong focus on sustainable tourism, ethical hospitality practices and industry-relevant business skills, this MSc prepares graduates to work confidently across international hospitality and tourism sectors. The course follows a flexible study model, delivered over a maximum of three days per week, allowing you to balance academic study with part-time work or other commitments. Assessment is coursework-based, with practical, industry-focused assignments rather than traditional exams. Throughout your studies, you will also benefit from university support services, including assistance with student accommodation, wellbeing and settling into life in the UK, ensuring a positive and supported postgraduate experience. Whether you aspire to careers in hotel or resort management, destination marketing, sustainability consultancy or international tourism development, the Professional Route offers a structured, career-focused pathway that combines academic excellence with meaningful industry experience. If you prefer not to undertake an additional placement year, you may instead apply for the standard MSc International Hospitality and Tourism Management which focuses on academic and applied learning without a professional placement.

A 2:2 honours degree in any subject, or a masters degree in any subject. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered.
