University preparation programmes
International students who do not meet direct academic entry requirements have the option to complete preparation programmes with Strathclyde's International Study Centre. Once successfully completed, students can advance to degree-level study.
The university accepts a number of English language tests as proof of proficiency in English, IELTS being the most widely available.

The university invests millions of pounds each year in scholarships, supporting students from around the world to access internationally renowned education.

Scholarships worth between GBP 5,000 and GBP 8,000 will automatically apply to eligible international applicants beginning postgraduate taught courses in 2025-26. This includes the January 2026 intake.
Other scholarships worth up to GBP 12,000 (depending on faculty of study) are also available.

Scholarships are available for the undergraduate foundation programme, international year one and pre-master's programmes. These are limited in availability and are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis.
After successful completion of a pathway programme, students can be awarded scholarships each academic year if they achieve grades of 60 percent.
