Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry

B+ (or equivalent) successful completion of a research master’s degree in engineering or the physical/chemical/biological sciences with an overall average of at least B+ (or equivalent).

Ph.D. directly after completing an M.A.Sc. or M.Eng. in ChemEng - Students who complete an M.A.Sc. or M.Eng. in the Department of Chemical Engineering and wish to begin a Ph.D. in the department immediately after finishing their master’s, are to apply for Ph.D. admission through the SGS Admission Application System. Please contact the Graduate Assistant for information on the most expedient way to apply for admission.

Direct-Entry Ph.D. - Students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their BEng or B.A.Sc. studies may enter the Ph.D. program directly after their undergraduate studies. Typically, an applicant must have achieved an A-range average and have participated in a research project, either through an undergraduate thesis or through research conducted in a lab.

Flex-Time Ph.D. - Those interested in applying to the Flex-time Ph.D. program (completing a Ph.D. while concurrently working in the profession) must contact the Associate Chair, Graduate Studies prior to applying.
