Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Molecular and Cellular Biology

Well-trained scientists steeped in many disciplines are needed to develop next-generation technologies and lead multi-faceted research teams for new scientific discoveries. The Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) program is an interdisciplinary graduate program jointly offered by the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The MCB graduate program is designed to empower you to explore the areas of biomedical and basic sciences that spark your curiosity and passions. It’s an environment where you have the flexibility to design your own research program and curricula. This flexibility leads to an individualized experience that encourages scientific creativity and student success. We strive to create a supportive and nurturing environment so that students can pursue their goals effectively and on schedule.

Applicants must have received a baccalaureate degree or higher (non-master’s) at the time of matriculation; degrees emphasizing biology, physical or natural sciences, and mathematics are preferred.
