Bachelor of Science in Architecture

Our courses engage real-world sites and tackle complex social, cultural, and environmental challenges. You’ll graduate with the tools to design beautiful, innovative, and sustainable architectural environments. We believe that you learn by doing. Whether you pursue a BS or BA degree in architecture, our program provides numerous opportunities for hands-on, real-world engagement, both in the St. Louis community and beyond. Our program is centered around the design studio, which emphasizes craft and making. You’ll work collaboratively with your peers and faculty on projects. The Bachelor of Science in Architecture offers a more intensive study of architecture during your senior year. You’ll take an upper-level design studios focused on advanced building design, along with structures courses, architectural historytheory courses that emphasize urban design issues, and technology courses in environmental systems or landscape architecture.

The successful completion of a minimum of 12 years of primary and secondary studies is required for admission to any program of study leading to a bachelor’s degree at WashU. A secondary school diploma or equivalent is required. Original academic transcripts or certified copies A description of the grading system Examination results (IGCSE, HKCEE, predicted A-Levels, national exams, etc.) School-leaving certificates Certified English translations of all of the above Grades and class rank (if your school ranks students) Counselor recommendation and one teacher evaluation A 250-word response to the question “Please tell us what you are interested in studying at college and why.” Extracurricular and community activities Your portfolio is an important part of your application, A portfolio submission of 10-20 works is required for College of Art applicants and recommended for College of Architecture applicants. It is also required for any student to be considered for a scholarship.
