Students' union
Lancaster University Students' Union (LUSU) offers the support, opportunities and voice to shape every university experience, with over 200 student-run clubs and societies, from sports and craft clubs to academic and cultural groups.
There's an exciting calendar of events throughout the year, including the Roses tournament: a whole weekend of sports, cheering, and fun as Lancaster competes against their sporting rivals, the University of York.
Support and wellbeing
Everyone's needs are different, so the University offers a range of free, professional support services that students can access at any time during their studies. Lancaster University is comprised of four main faculties, each with several departments, centres and institutes.
Lancaster's Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences is a dynamic and creative community of enquiry, learning and engagement. It comprises four schools, each offering multiple subjects: School of Arts, School of Global Affairs, School of Law, and School of Social Sciences. Lancaster is ranked within the top 100 universities in the world for Education, Arts and Humanities (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026).
The Faculty of Health and Medicine's multidisciplinary research and teaching operate across three divisions: Biomedical and Life Sciences, Health Research, and Lancaster Medical School. The Faculty works with the NHS, public sector, and industry and voluntary sector organisations to develop solutions to healthcare problems.
Lancaster's Management School is one of just a handful of triple crown business schools that hold accreditation with AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, the most influential business school accreditation bodies. Accounting and Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship and Strategy, Management Science, Marketing, and Organisation, Work and Technology make up the school's six departments.
The Faculty of Science and Technology prides itself on the depth, range, and quality of its research, which goes hand-in-hand with its high-quality teaching delivered in top specialist facilities. From breaking new ground in astrophysics to cyber security, staff are active in their specialist areas. Its eight departments include Chemistry, Computing and Communications, Engineering, Lancaster Environment Centre, Mathematical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Physics, and Psychology.

The University offers pre-sessional English language courses for students who don't meet minimum entry requirements. These are designed to help students bridge the gap between their current English language score and the normal minimum entry requirement of their degree programmes. The courses are between four and 10 weeks in length, depending on the level of their English when they apply.

Lancaster's beautiful campus is often described as a small town of its own, with 24-hour security and everything in one place.
There are plenty of places to eat and relax, including cafes, bars, takeaways, and restaurants. There's also a theatre, art gallery, and a student‑run cinema.
For everyday essentials, the campus has two supermarkets, a sustainable goods shop, a post office, a pharmacy, a doctor's surgery, cash machines (ATMs), and launderettes. It also has prayer rooms and a multi-faith Chaplaincy Centre.
Lancaster offers modern, comfortable accommodation options to suit different preferences and budgets. Choose from en‑suite rooms, townhouses and flats with shared facilities, or self‑contained studios. Adapted rooms are available for students with disabilities, and there are family flats for students with young children.
Accommodation on campus is located within the colleges, creating a ready-made community around each student's living space, while still having a private place to call their own.
