The Albukhary Foundation Scholarships have been established to recognise the most academically talented students in need of financial support from one of the UN's list of LDC countries as well as Ghana, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe.
Eligible students must apply for the Albukhary Scholarship by providing the following before the end of February:
A written statement outlining the student's reasons for wanting to study at the AA, and why financial support is required
Evidence of financial need, proof of residency and a character reference
A reference endorsing the applicant's suitability for the Scholarship shall also be obtained from the AA staff member who undertook the interview of the student prior to an offer being made.
The scholarship includes full tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, and travel to and from the applicant's home country.
The scholarship can be awarded to up to three students who will begin their first year of undergraduate studies in architecture at the AA between 2026 and 2030, and will be awarded for each of their five years of full-time study at the AA: the BA (Hons) Architecture RIBA Part 1 Intermediate Programme (Years 1–3), and the Master in Architecture ARB/RIBA Part 2 Diploma Programme (Years 4–5).
The scholarship will only be considered for those who have submitted their application by the early application deadline in November and are in receipt of an Offer Letter from the AA. Therefore, all applicants will already have met or be in a position to meet the AA's Entry Requirements (academic qualifications and English language).
To be eligible for the scholarship, the students must:
1. be a national of:
i. a least-developed country as recognised by the United Nations at the time of the application (the list can be accessed or
ii. Kenya, Ghana or Zimbabwe or
iii. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan
iv. Malaysia.
2. have received an offer of a place from the AA for enrolment into the First Year of the Intermediate Programme and
3. have a consistent record of excellence in their academic and extra-curricular activities
4. and be in need of financial support to enable them to pursue their studies at the AA.
November
Apply to the Intermediate Programme (BA (Hons) ARB/RIBA Part 1) by the standard admission route by the November early application deadline and meet all the entry requirements. During the application process, the student must indicate that they would like to apply for financial assistance.
January–February
Receive offer letter to study at the AA.
Receive information about the Albukhary Scholarship and how to apply for it, if eligible.
February
Eligible students must apply for the Albukhary Scholarship by providing the following before the end of February:

Evidence of financial need, proof of residency and a character reference
A reference endorsing the applicant's suitability for the Scholarship shall also be obtained from the AA staff member who undertook the interview of the student prior to an offer being made.
March
Applications for the Albukhary Scholarship will be shortlisted in mid-March and interviews held online by end of April.
Final decision on successful applicants shall be made by end of May at which point applications for visa will be made via AA Admissions Team.
