Royal Holloway GREAT Scholarships

You must provide a supporting statement of no more than 400 words (please note that statements that exceed the word count will automatically be rejected), outlining why you should receive the scholarship. You should include:

• Academic achievements you are particularly proud of and why these really matter to you
• Why you have chosen to do the degree you have applied for
• What your future aspirations are and how the scholarship will help you to achieve your future goals

Your statement will be judged on how effectively and convincingly you respond to the above.

Applications which exceed the word count will automatically be rejected.

Three GREAT scholarships are available for new full-time postgraduate students from Ghana, Nigeria and Mexico studying any taught Masters subject. There is one scholarship for a student from Ghana, one for a student from Nigeria and one for a student from Mexico.

Tuition fee reduction of £10,000 for postgraduate students from selected countries.

Am I eligible?

• A passport holder and a resident of Ghana
• Hold an offer to study any full-time Masters subject at Royal Holloway from September 2026
• Have completed an undergraduate degree and be motivated and interested in your proposed subject area
• Meet the English language requirement of Royal Holloway.
• Establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment.
• Willing to attend a networking event of all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK.
• Willing to maintain contact with the British Council and their HEI and act as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships, by sharing experiences of studying in the UK with future GREAT scholars.
• As an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships, willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about your experience of studying in the UK.
