Satisfactory academic standing
Registered in a graduate program in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation, the Faculty of Law or the Department of Sociology
Selection based on academic achievement as it relates to gender, sexuality, disability and or accessibility
Selection based on demonstrated scholarly commitment to critical understandings demonstrated commitment to extending scholarly work into the public domain and demonstrated advocacy on campus or within the community
This award celebrates the memory of Lane Mandlis, who earned four degrees at the University of Alberta: A Bachelor of Physical Education and a Master of Arts in Physical Education and Recreation, a PhD in Sociology, and a Juris Doctor in Law.
Lane's intellectual and advocacy work were focused on disability rights and disrupting normative approaches to gender-in particular the intersection between psychiatry, law and citizenship in the transgender body.
