This award celebrates the memory of Lane Mandlis, who earned four degrees at the University of Alberta: A Bachelor of Physical Education and a Master of Arts in Physical Education and Recreation, a PhD in Sociology, and a Juris Doctor in Law.
Lane's intellectual and advocacy work were focused on disability rights and disrupting normative approaches to gender-in particular the intersection between psychiatry, law and citizenship in the transgender body.
