In making the recommendations, the selection committee considers the following: a. Academic achievement The scholarship is awarded to the top-ranked applicants who applied for but were not successful in obtaining a UC Master's or UC Core Doctoral Scholarship (or an award of higher or equivalent value to these).
If, in any year, there are fewer candidates of sufficient merit than there are scholarships available, fewer are offered.
The scholarship may be awarded to the top ranked applicant in any one year of those who applied for, but were not successful in obtaining, a University of Canterbury Master's or Doctoral Scholarship (or award of higher or equivalent value to these).
Tenure: One year.
Value/Benefits: The value of the scholarship shall be determined each year, according to the money available to be disbursed from the trust account in accordance with University policy.
Applicants must have met the academic requirements for enrolment in a programme for an MEFE or MEngSt(Fire) by 10 December in the year of application for the scholarship.
