In making the recommendation, the selection committee considers the character and suitability of the applicants and in particular noting those who are considered "likely in their future lives to promote and foster racial tolerance, cooperation, and understanding''.
If accumulated funds permit, additional scholarships may be awarded in any year.
If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship is offered.
The purpose of this scholarship is to award engineering students attending the University of Canterbury, particularly international engineering students, who are considered likely in their future lives to promote and foster racial tolerance, co-operation, and understanding.
Tenure: One year
Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Full-time students of Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha University of Canterbury who are enrolled in the Second, Third or Fourth Year of a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) degree.
