In making the recommendation, the selection committee gives equal consideration to: a. the quality of the research that the applicant proposes to present b. the nature of the conference at which the applicant proposes to present their research and c. costs associated with attendance at the conference.
If, in any year, applications have been opened to support other activities, the committee gives equal consideration to: a. academic achievement and b. potential value of the grant to an applicant's study.
If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no award is made.
This award supports master's and PhD students in Te Kura Ngahere School of Forestry at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha University of Canterbury, by contributing to expenses associated with presenting a paper at a relevant conference. In the absence of suitable candidates, the applications may be opened to eligible students seeking support to meet other costs associated with their study.
