In making the recommendation, the selection committee considers, in descending order of priority: a. academic achievement in Third Year of a programme for a BE(Hons) (Civil) degree, with preference given to applicants who have achieved highly in courses related to structural or geotechnical or earthquake Engineering and b. contributions to the University and to the community outside of university.
If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship is offered

The scholarship supports students studying structural, geotechnical, or earthquake Engineering in Fourth Year of the BE(Hons) (Civil) programme at Te Whare W?nanga o Waitaha University of Canterbury.
Tenure: One year
Applicable enrolment during tenure: Full-time enrolment in Fourth Year of a programme for a BE(Hons) (Civil), including a (final year) research project on structural or earthquake Engineering and at least 45 points' worth of courses related to structural or geotechnical or earthquake Engineering.
