For 2025-26 entry, if your income is up to £23,200, you will receive £2,000. If your income is between £23,201 and £36,200, you will receive £1,000.

This bursary is for students with a low household income and is paid to your bank account each year you study.
Bursary thresholds may change for each academic year. Your bursary will be based on the year you start your course.
Eligibility
To get this bursary you must:
be enrolled full time on an undergraduate or integrated master's course
pay the full UK home tuition fees
have a household income of £36,200 or less
You can still receive this bursary if your fees are paid by the NHS and you're starting your course in 2025-26. You'll also get the bursary if you study abroad. You may be eligible if you return from a Pause in Study. Contact the Financial Support Team for advice.
You are not eligible if you:
pause your studies
repeat externally
take a work placement or a Year in Employment
enrol as a part-time student
enrol on a statutory-funded postgraduate course, such as PGCE or PGDip
If you are eligible for the bursary, we will email you using the address registered with Student Finance.
You need to apply for a Student Finance maintenance loan and choose the option to have your loan means tested. Student Finance will then complete a household income assessment, with your or your parent's consent and share the information with the University.
If you want to be considered for a bursary without applying for a maintenance loan, complete the Student Finance application form for your awarding body and request a loan of £0.
We review household income information each October. You must have a household income showing by 31 May to be eligible to receive the bursary in the same year.
