BSc (Hons) Software Engineering

As we rely more on technology as a part of everyday life, there is an increasing demand for people with the skills to update, maintain and improve the software we depend on. This course gives you the skills to work in the fast-moving software industry.


Use your creativity and problem-solving skills and learn how to apply them to software development principles to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems

Explore how to design software systems so they can be easily maintained and evaluated to ensure they match user and organisational requirements

In addition to core computing skills, you’ll gain experience of using a variety of programming languages and frameworks to develop technical systems

You'll gain valuable work experience on your placement if you choose to take one


Duration:4 years full-time with a minimum 30-week placement or 3 years full-time. You will be enrolled onto the 4-year degree, but can opt out of the placement year. Foundation Year: 5 years full-time with a minimum 30-week placement or 4 years full-time.

Numeracy and literacy requirements eg GCSEs GCSE English Language or English Literature and Mathematics grade 4 or grade C in the old grading system We also accept iGCSEs Key Skills and Functional Skills and other qualifications at Level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework

A-level and AS levels 104-120 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of two A-levels

Access to HE Diploma 102-118 UCAS tariff points with any combination of Distinction Merit Pass grades

International Baccalaureate Diploma An overall score of 28-31 points

International Baccalaureate Certificates 104-120 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of two Higher Level certificates
